Facebook Post Insights

According to a presentation recently leaked by Polish agency ARBO Interactive, Facebook is about to launch a new opportunity for Facebook page administrators to learn more about the posts on their pages. You’ll be able to see data on page impressions and what percentage of impressions resulted in actions like clicks, comments or likes. Some basic testing this morning revealed that the data is pretty close to real time as well. The insights appear just under each post and you can only view them if you are an administrator of the page.

I think this is just the beginning of deeper analytics for your Facebook fan pages and about time too. According to Rich Miller from Data Center Knowledge Facebook is building their own data centers. They are clearly ramping up to avoid outages like the ones that hound Twitter and it sounds as though they plan on keeping their data close, meaning you’re probably not going to be able to install something like Google Analytics on your Fan Page any time soon.

For now this new change should give us an inkling of information about our fan page content. Mine that data and use it to fine tune your page for what your fans want to see.
