Linkedin seems ti be following Facebook’s lead for advertising this month by creating a default setting on your profile that allows your face and name to be used in third party photos. Way back in June they quietly launched ad a lot like the much maligned “Social Ads’ campaigns that Facebook now runs. Did you notice?
Take a look for yourself

  1. Log into Linkedin and click your name in the upper right corner. Select settings.
  2. Select Account
  3. You’ll see a link to Manage Social Advertising
  4. Click it and get this dandy popup window.

5. Uncheck that box.

Linkedin will probably ask you to log in again but then it will go through. You might want to take a look at the rest of your privacy settings while you’re in there.

Linkedin announced they are now not using your personal information opn these ads. Now it’s just “10 of your friends like this”. Bravo Linkedin for doing the right thing!
