As you might already have heard, Facebook announced this fall they are going to stop using their proprietary code used for page “tabs” called FBML and moving towards iframes. We’ve been getting a lot of panicked emails asking if their pages will break when Facebook finally drops the flag on these pages.

The good news is, they haven’t done it yet, and even when they do they’ll phase out the pages and you should have plenty of time to replace them. In fact, Facebook says they’ll be leaving existing tabs just as they are even after the change.

Quote from the Facebook developer’s blog: “We will continue letting developers create new FBML Page tab applications until Q1 2011, because we are still working on the iFrame implementation. We are also postponing the deprecation of fb:board until we offer the ability to export data.”

Of course at some point you’ll need to make a change, but we really don’t expect it to be any time soon, so keep on making those tabs!
